FEMALE SPECIFIC

5.5 | 7 | 9 | 12m

The Diamond Kite features a refined profile and balanced configuration that appeals to a broad level of users, from performance freestyle and wave riding while still being stable and user friendly enough for intermediate riders.

The unique shape is light on the bar, with a short bar throw that even the lightest of riders can easily get the kite to the edge of the window in stronger conditions.

The Diamond Series kite features Technoforce D2 by Teijin in conjunction with the Poly Load Frame giving any female rider an insanely durable kite that will last them season after season.

// Dedicated Female Specific 4 Line Performance Hybrid C Kite
// Light Bar Pressure
// Reduced Bar throw with Same depower range
// Easy Upwind Performance
// Polyester Load Frame Technology
// Double Rip Stop Technoforce D2 by Teijin Canopy
// New Oversized SPS valve (Single Point Inflation System)
// All New One Pump System

Features

SLC DESIGN - The Supported Leading Edge c-kite or SLC is dedicated to riders who want everything from a 5 line C-kite in a 4 line format. The SLC concept gives a C-shape arc and squarer wingtips, which delivers great turning and direct response in combination with the bridle that supports the leading edge, great range, depower and relaunching abilities.

V3 Bridle - The V3 bridle system contributes significantly to the feeling and performance of supported leading edge kites, in addition the total depower adds immensely to the safety benefits. The positioning of the bridle attachment points on the LE of the kite, combined with the V pulleys, give a range of movement. The result is steering that is light, but direct enough to feel where your kite is while riding. This also enables the kite to be steered and controlled when the kite is completely de-powered, which is ideal for wave riding.

Poly Load Frame - With the overwhelming positive response of the Aramid Load Frame being used in the Razor and Wave. Airush has decided to implement the same concept of structural integrity and performance into the Lithium, Varial X, and Diamond with the all new Poly Load Frame. Durable Polyester Fibers are used just like Aramid, strategically placed along the kite to give a more solid connection and prevent stretching throughout the canopy. This proven technique is one of a kind and only used with Airush kites.

TECHNOFORCE D2 BY TEIJIN - This premium fabric is used in conjunction with the Aramid Load frame for the ultimate combination of durability and performance. Ongoing testing has highlighted the lowest stretch and highest long-term reliability of any materials available.

This construction absorbs impact throughout the canopy, reducing the overall load placed on the canopy cloth, by directing load through the Aramid frame high stress periods such impact or wave action. Not only does the frame create a solid structure, but also increases performance. The Aramid Load Frame makes a more solid link throughout the entire kite, which enhances the response from rider to kite.

FMS RATING - Airush introduced FMS rating 6 years ago as the first brand to quantify how much a twintip flexes, instead of the good old “feel” test, which can be very deceptive due to the impact of the length on the overall stiffness. FMS takes into account the boards length and deflection and lower rating indicating a softer board. Softer boards are more suited to freeride, while stiffer boards are more suited to Freestyle.

Tips & Tuning

What were the challenges of designing a female specific kite?

The challenges of designing a female specific kite, we had to try and search for a lot of feedback from riders and see what they prefer and want from a kite. Besides the obvious of being lighter weight and having slightly shorter arms than men, we found women didn’t want such solid “parked power” and preferred something a bit more forgiving.

What makes the Diamond Kite a female specific kite?

The Diamond kite is specifically designed for female, having a super light bar pressure and a short bar throw. The difference between the Diamond and say a Lithium is once you move the bar 25cm away from the rider, she gets full depower. Where as a Lithium will still have about 70% of its power and need the bar around 45cm away from the rider to achieve full depower. Also as female riders are usually lighter, a strong parked power actually makes it harder for riders to hold a solid edge. Having a kite that sits a bit further forward allows for easier upwind ability especially in overpowered conditions.

How did you achieve a shorter bar throw with the same safety range?

It was quite a mission to be able to achieve short bar throw with lots of depower and also to have light bar pressure together at the same time. The whole concept of those three things actually contradict each other, so we had to work a lot on the shape of the kite, getting the ratio between the chord length of the wing tip and the center chord ratio just right to work with the position of the bridles on the LE. We also tried plenty of shorter bridle options but found this drastically reduced the amount of depower and increased the bar pressure, which went against our design goals.

How does the Diamond compare to the Lithium and Varial X?

The Diamond fits in our range in between the Lithium and Varial X, but more towards the Varial X. We took a lot of influence from this kite but with the short bar throw, more depower and lighter bar pressure.
